Ice Road Trailer Canopy
The client requested Lawrence to design a unique canopy for inside mechanic work on trailers travelling the Ice Road in Alaska. The challenge was to provide a shelter that was strong enough to block the wind and snow, yet be lightweight enough for 4 people to install and break down repeatedly. There are no lifts available on site, so assembly is done on the ground or via ladders.
The enormous canopy is 16′ 6″ tall by 43′ wide, made of a mixture of aluminum and steel framing with Weather Max FR fabric. The project was extremely challenging due to the environmental conditions and the function of the canopy. To add to the complexity, our Lawrence team had a short 2 weeks to complete the project after the trailer arrived in our facility. The client is extremely pleased that the canopy is surviving the Ice Road intense elements.
